The Deer Stalker

Thad Eburne is a ranger of the grand Buckskin Forest, a hard-working protector of nature and its wildlife. That is, until other men's bitterness, greed, and power over Thad turn him into a deer stalker -- a man who will be forever haunted by the job he must do -- and by the woman who changes everything. In The Deer Stalker, Zane Grey provides the most complete first-hand account of the attempted deer drive of 1924 on the Kaibab. His tale, although accepted as fiction, resulted from the novelist's direct participation in the actual planning of the drive and corresponded closely with reports from official participants in the event. - Jacket.
